The German giant wave surfer and world record holder Sebastian Steudtner exceeded his own expectations and surfed the highest wave of his career at 28.57 meters in Nazaré on February 24, 2024. We were there!
What do the big waves of Nazare so special? The reason for this lies deep in the sea - and under water. Between October and March, storms over the North Atlantic drive swells towards Nazaré, Portugal. Here they encounter the "Nazaré Canyon", a deep-sea trench with a depth of 5,000 meters, which, under ideal conditions, piles up the incoming water into record waves.
After several months of standby, we were on site in February 2024 as Sebastian Steudtner his own Giant Wave Surf World Record has improved!
Already in autumn last year the ifbbw of the Serviceplan Bubble GmbH & Co. KG to support the media coverage of the world record attempt. With the support of our local network, we have been making preparations for production since October 2023. Always with the knowledge that the world record wave can roll in at any time and that we have to be on site in Nazaré ready for production within two days.
It was a great honour for us to be involved in this media production for the o2 cando channels and are looking forward to the coming 24/25 season.
