LIVE STREAMING / VIDEO PRODUCTION

Falling Walls Convention

Media production for Falling Walls Convention in Berlin

Together with our friends from Wecap we implemented the complete media production for the Falling Walls Convention in Berlin in November 2019. As part of the production, we produced various live streams and films for the customer within 2 days.

For the concurrent events Falling Walls Lab, Falling Walls Venture and Falling Walls Engage on November 8, we produced a live stream for each event. In addition, we were on the road with four editorially supervised mobile camera teams in Berlin at various events of the customer on the day.

Film editing overnight for film presentations at the main conference

The footage shot by the mobile camera crews was used for the overnight editing of a total of four films. The corresponding films were used at the Falling Walls Conference on November 9th to present the events of the previous day to the participants of the conference on site. We also played the films for viewers of the conference live stream.

In order to ensure that production runs smoothly overnight, we have set up a production office with seven editing stations. An 8-man team supervised the four film cuts during the night, so that everything could be finished and produced in high quality for acceptance the next morning at 5:00 a.m.

7-Camera Production: Falling Walls Conference Livestream

The next morning we continued with the media production at the main conference on November 9th. This took place in the radial system held in Berlin. Here the live stream of the Falling Walls Conference was produced all day as a mixed program from two stages. We filled and bridged breaks in the stage program with a moderated interview position. During production on the main stage, a camera crane with a 9 meter boom was used, among other things. This was the visual highlight of the live stream. You can watch the recording of the live stream in the video below.

Video On Demand of all live streams online the next day

The processing of the live stream recordings as Video On Demand has been implemented through a semi-automated post-production process. We already developed the process while working together with Wecap at the re:publica. This enables us to store almost all content from live streams as individual videos for each presentation online in the customer's YouTube account the next day. Even with correspondingly large productions with several simultaneous live streams, as in the case of Falling Walls, we can implement this process, despite the large amount of video data that we have to process. In addition, in this specific case, the content of the all-day live stream consisted of up to 100 individual presentations of 3 minutes each.
